Residents of Essex are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing where to dine out.  There are quaint pubs dotted around the countryside that offer the best of British seasonal food and cater for families too.  International cuisine is more readily available locally, with everything from sushi bars to tapas restaurants.  The coastal towns offer the usual favourites of fish and chips and other seaside favourites.  A new demand for organic and fair trade products has sparked a growth in the number of speciality food cafes and restaurants, and there are also restaurants that specialise in vegetarian food.

Family Entertainment in Essex
In terms of places to have fun Essex is up there with the best of them. There is always something going on at the weekends with family events held at a number of historical National Trust venues.  You are never more than a short drive away from one of the towns, which can all boast excellent entertainment facilities. Essex boasts a real maritime flavour due to its long coastline. Seaside resorts such as Southend, Walton and Clacton possess all the fun of the seaside and more. Southend is well known for an exciting calendar of events throughout all year round while one can find more traditional family entertainment in Clacton and the other seaside towns. If shopping is your thing, Lakeside Shopping centre in Thurrock is definitely worth a visit. Essex also has its fair share of places to take young children, so you can rest easy that Essex has it all.
